Public Art

The Public Art Committee, in partnership with Town of Yarmouth municipal staff, works to bring creative artworks to public spaces within our community for the benefit of all. The Public Art Committee is guided by strategic goals and a masterplan for the location of artworks in Yarmouth. Through a process of community engagement, outreach to artists, planning, imagination, fundraising, and installation, we hope to enliven public spaces, start conversations flowing, and celebrate the amazing creativity within our community.

What is Public Art?

Public art is art in any media that has been planned and executed with the intention of being exhibited in public spaces, usually outside and accessible to all.  Public art has evolved beyond historic monuments and is created in many forms to express places, people, and cultures. Public art can include murals, sculpture, memorials, integrated architectural, and performances.
