X’s & O’s by Jeff Keller consists of pieces hanging from the ceiling and sitting on the angled ledge above the entry foyer. This piece is about possibility rather than conclusion. It’s about form and color and the potential of art.
Materials used include bent laminated wood and solid wood, steel cable and hanging hardware. Color: pigment/clay/resin over wood.
About the Artist: Jeff Kellar's work is represented by galleries around the country, including the Corey Daniels Gallery in Wells, Maine. His sculptures and paintings are in the collections of the Farnsworth Art Museum and the Portland Museum of Art. He has been commissioned to make site specific works for the University of Maine, Farmington, Maine Department of Conservation, and University of Southern Maine, among others. He has been awarded a fellowship and grant from the Gottlieb Foundation and the Maine Arts Commission.
Jeff started his art career as a filmmaker, became interested in the design of objects, worked as a furniture maker for quite a few years, and now concentrates on sculpture and painting. Jeff has taught furniture, sculpture, and mixed media at the Haystack School in Deer Isle and has been an artist in residence, working with sculpture students at The University of Southern Maine.
