I have been creating art most of my life. I am currently working with wool felt to create whimsical art. My aim with my art is to put a smile on the veiwer's face. My designs are colorful and naieve and the use of felt recalls a simpler time.

"Paint what moves you and move with the paint. Stay open and explore the possibilities, allow what you sense to become works of art through your hands and paintbrushes." My recent body of work reflects balance between thinking and feeling. These dreamscapes evoke a quiet strength, courage and willingness to trust a suggested message of anticipation and hope.

I create whimsical and accessible art: one-of-a-kind collage greeting cards, gift bags, altered journals and framed pieces. Paper is my primary medium. My work includes local found objects and global materials. Postal stamps and vintage books are my current inspirations. Collage is joyful for me. Most people react to my work with a pause, a moment to take everything in and then they retell the story they see in their own words.

Born and raised on the coast of Maine, I grew up sailing the coast with my family and now tour it on a more intimate level in my sea kayak. My work is a combination of my love of the coast and brilliant colors. To see more of my work please visit my website.

Art entered my life as a “spirit balance” to my father’s illness. My watercolor paintings represent a lifelong exploration of this totally absorbing, demanding, fascinating medium. I like to experiment with vibrant colors, collage, printmaking, graphic design and other techniques and particularly to use watercolor, that “singing “ medium, to express my feelings as well as my joy in the environment in Maine and at Lake Champlain.

I started my formal schooling in the arts in college, earning a B.A. in Fine Arts at Tufts University with an affiliation at the Museum School in Boston. With an early specialization in photo and drawing, I eventually took painting classes at Maine College of Art which launched me into my obsession with oil paint! Photography and drawing provide me with a great base with which to design my canvasses. I am influenced by many Masters -- John Sargent, Edgar Payne, Winslow Homer, as well as The California Impressionists, and the Southwestern genre. I am drawn to the Maine Coast which lends itself to a specialty in landscapes. I love to create in many other facets of my life -- cooking, gardening, flower arranging, knitting, just to mention a few.

I am Lauren and for the past 5 year I have been taking photos. No matter if it is a little thing and I made it bigger or some thing that was dark and make it brighter! I am someone that puts my feelings into my photos and I show you what i am feeling in the moment of taking that photo! I love seeing younger kids pick up a camera and take a photo. Not a phone camera! I know it is weird that phones are taking over! But I love seeing real art! You don't see art in a phone you see art with your eyes! I started off simple and now I love to get wild with photos! Learning more and more each day about what is out there to take a photo of is the best kind of thing too look for in life!
